Frequently Asked Questions
Below are answers to common questions about Missing Persons Network, how the site works, and how we protect privacy and safety.
General
What is Missing Persons Network?
Missing Persons Network is a public service website that helps families and communities share information about active missing persons and receive tips that may assist in safely locating them.
Are you law enforcement?
No. We are not law enforcement and do not conduct investigations. We provide an information and awareness platform only. In emergencies, always contact 911 or local police first.
Is this service free?
Yes. Listing a case and submitting tips is free. Our goal is to provide a simple public safety resource for families and communities.
Cases & Listings
How do I submit a missing person case?
You can contact us directly or use our submission process to provide details, photos, and last known information. We review submissions before publishing them publicly.
Why are only active cases shown?
We only display currently active missing persons to protect long-term privacy. Once someone is located, their case is removed promptly and not kept in a public archive.
Can I update or correct information?
Yes. If details are inaccurate or need updating, please contact us and we will review and correct the information as soon as possible.
Privacy & Safety
What happens when someone is found?
The case is removed from public view immediately. Posters are disabled and search engines are asked to remove the page to protect the individual’s privacy.
Do you keep permanent records online?
No. We intentionally avoid permanent public archives of located individuals to prevent future privacy or reputational concerns.
Can I request removal of a case?
Yes. Family members or authorised representatives can request removal or updates at any time. Please see our Data Removal page.
Tips & Reporting
How do I submit a tip?
Use the “Report a Tip” button on any case page. Tips are handled privately and are not displayed publicly.
Are tips anonymous?
You may choose what information to provide. Tips are not posted publicly and are only shared with the appropriate contact or authorities when necessary.
Will I receive a reply?
Not always. Tips are forwarded to the appropriate case contact or law enforcement, and follow-up may depend on their process.
Website & Technical
Do you use cookies?
We use essential cookies for functionality and anonymous analytics to improve performance. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. See our Cookie Policy.
Why might a page disappear from search results?
When a case is resolved or removed, we disable the page and ask search engines to delete it. It may take some time for search engines to update their listings.
